This describes what the site actually does as of the date above, written for a general audience including visitors in the US, the EEA, and the UK. It is not legal advice — have a lawyer review it before relying on the CCPA and GDPR sections for a real user base.

Summary

Every tool on this site runs entirely in your browser. Your files, passwords, images, and calculator inputs are never uploaded to us, and we operate no user accounts and no server-side database of visitor data.

The site is free because it carries advertising. Google AdSense and Google Analytics both run on every page, and both set cookies and process data — including your IP address — under their own policies. That is the one meaningful exception to everything else on this page, and the sections below set out exactly what it involves and how to control it.

What we don't collect

Passwords, images, food logs, calculator inputs — none of it is sent to, or stored on, our servers. We have no user accounts and no server-side database.

What's stored locally on your device

A few tools save small preferences using your browser's local storage, so they persist between visits:

  • Dark/light theme choice
  • Screen ruler calibration (your display's measured PPI)
  • Today's food log in the calorie calculator (auto-clears the next day)

This data stays on your device — we never receive it. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

Cookies and tracking technologies

We set no first-party tracking cookies of our own and we do not use browser fingerprinting. Two Google services that we embed do use cookies and similar technologies:

  • Google AdSense serves the advertising that funds the site. Google and its advertising partners may set cookies to measure ad performance and, where you have consented, to personalise the ads you see.
  • Google Analytics 4 gives us aggregate counts of page visits. IP anonymisation is enabled and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors.

Both load under Google Consent Mode v2. In the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, advertising and analytics storage default to denied until you make a choice, and no personalised advertising cookie is set before then.

Advertising and how to control it

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google at Google Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising from many other vendors at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu.
  • Where a consent message was shown to you, the Cookie Settings link in the footer reopens it so you can change or withdraw your choice at any time.

Visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, advertising and analytics cookies are set only after you consent through the message shown on your first visit. Consent is the legal basis for that processing, and you may withdraw it at any time through the Cookie Settings link in the footer — withdrawing is as easy as giving it.

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, and port your personal data, and to object to its processing. Because we hold no visitor records ourselves, requests concerning advertising or analytics data are best directed to Google, which acts as the controller for that data. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

Data processed by Google may be transferred to and stored in the United States under Google's own transfer safeguards.

California residents: your CCPA/CPRA rights

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), California residents have the right to know what personal information a business collects, request deletion of it, correct inaccuracies, opt out of its sale or sharing, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Our position: we hold no personal information about you on our own servers, so we have nothing of our own to sell or hand over. However, letting a third-party advertising network use cookies for personalised advertising can itself amount to "sharing" under the CPRA. To opt out, use the Cookie Settings link in the footer, or opt out of personalised ads directly atGoogle Ads Settings. You may also email info@rockingtools.com and we will confirm our position in writing.

Other US state privacy laws

Residents of Virginia (CDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA), and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have broadly similar rights to those described above. The same position applies: we don't collect the kind of personal information these laws are designed to protect. Contact us at the address above with any state-specific request.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

This site is not directed at children under 13, and in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we don't collect personal information from any visitor, this is inherently the case rather than a separate technical control — but if you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll investigate.

"Do Not Track" signals

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal, which has no agreed industry meaning and which the advertising services embedded here do not act on. Global Privacy Control (GPC) is the signal that carries legal weight in several US states; where it applies, treat it alongside the Cookie Settings control in the footer as the way to opt out of personalised advertising.

Some pages include affiliate links to third-party products. If you click through and make a purchase, we may earn a commission. We don't control, and aren't responsible for, those third-party sites' own data practices — check their privacy policies separately.

Third-party services

These are the only third parties whose code runs on this site:

  • Google AdSense — advertising. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics 4 — aggregate traffic measurement, with IP anonymisation enabled.
  • Google Fonts — typography. May log basic request data such as your IP address.

We run no other third-party script, tag, or pixel. There is no social media tracking and no data broker integration.
